Dopamine And Motivation
Because of the way that dopamine relates to our perception of time, working hard at something for the sake of a reward that comes afterward, can make the hard work more challenging and can make us much less likely to lean into hard work in the future. — Andrew Huberman
Most people work hard to achieve some sort of end goal. People love seeing progress. Rather, people love seeing change. When someone gets motivated our body releases dopamine. Your body has a baseline amount of dopamine circulating at all times. When you crave something really desirable and the dopamine wears off, your baseline level of dopamine drops. The issue is that this is temporary and dopamine is fleeting.
